There might be a conversion problem (16-235 -> 0-255) with madVR.
This one looks interesting, with a check for proper MadVR 0-255 conversion settings:ġ. There are lots of other good links near the bottom. If you haven't already found it, this article talks about settings for potplayer, MadVR, MPC-HC. Then you can circle back to the tools you want to use knowing that it can / should work, and you can focus on finding the correct flow / settings. The Nvidia changes should do something, if they aren't changing the video image, then check your player settings - try other players too, don't get caught up in a rut - if it ain't working, move on to something that does work, change things up till you find something that works. X7007, color balance is likely different.

I dunno, at home it works, I have 970 at home windows 7 sp1 圆4 Nothing I change from the Nvidia Control panel has effect on PotPlayer. If you can't bring out details, they aren't there, the washed out areas give contrasting areas in contrast to the "details" - when properly placed in the black scale they can "merge", people get paid big bucks to tune this stuff, it is an eye and talent you will gain over many hours of adjusting.Įverything is working correctly, you just need to learn to tune it all for your enjoyment Start by setting the Nvidia Control Panel "0-255 Full", Apply, go to all the other tabs and select Nvidia and adjust the settings, Apply.Įxplore all the Nvidia tuning options, Apply, and if needed reboot to make sure it is taking effect.

The video encodes 16-235, games / pc apps 0-255 - the conversion can't extract detail that isn't there, and the correct as you can see with the encoding app also can exert it's own influence. There are other tabs/settings - Gamma is important - play with it to get 0-255 to do what you want. You can correct by adjusting the additional Nvidia video controls for contrast/brightness to bring out the details. I prefer the crushed blacks obscuring "details" vs. The subtle effect of filling in missing data is working as expected. Then your black levels will be correct in limited, you will see shadow details, and it won’t be washed out."

You should use a calibration disc, like the free AVS 709 disc, World of Wonder, or Spears & Munsil, to set this correctly. The washed-out image is caused by your brightness setting being too high. Which is correct?Ī: If you are on a TV, then Limited is still correct. "Q: When I choose limited, I get a washed out image. Read the whole article, but also note this later Q/A: Look here, 0-255 just ruins the picture if you try to use it, a lot of the details are gone. Two other notes from your screen images above, some complaints about MadVR and using CUVID on Nvidia - to be avoided, and make sure you have the input set to Video range and all outputs set to 0-255 to be consistent. When you find a fix, please post it here and in the MadVR forum

NVidia 0-255 HDMI Full RGB Range without custom resolution - EASY tool! This is a bit old, but maybe it might lead somewhere useful, look for google hits like this: I don't know what else to tell you except keep experimenting, and/or try posting in the MadVR forums - or another support forum that covers MadVR for help.
X7007, the Nvidia setting is for the output to the screen, the conversion is to set the format for the file converted. Usually they say it's the best to do the convert from the Lav Filter and not from the Renderer which is MadVR. There is Lav Video Filter too I don't know which one to choose. This monitor should be 0-255 but if I try to use it in the video MadVR it just make everything blacker than black. But what about MadvR there is a setting there to change.Ĭhanging from nvidia panel doesnt seem to have any effect the last time I check.
